Helplessly Hoping (a cappella version) Lyrics MP3 Clip

Helplessly Hoping

Helplessly hoping her harlequin hovers nearby
Awaiting a word
Gasping at glimpses of gentle true spirit he runs
Wishing he could fly
Only to trip at the sound of goodbye

Wordlessly watching he waits by the window and wonders
At the empty place inside
Heartlessly helping himself to her bad dreams he worries
Did he hear a goodbye,
Or even hello?

They are one person
They are two alone
They are three together
They are for each other

Stand by the stairway you’ll see something certain to tell you
Confusion has its cost
Love isn’t lying it’s loose in a lady who lingers
Sayin’ she is lost
And choking on hello

They are one person
They are two alone
They are three together
They are for each other

They are one person
They are two alone
They are three together
Helplessly hoping

They are one person
They are two alone
They are three together

Anymore Beautiful

Sun off the river
Catches gold in your hair and the light in your eyes
Man what a picture
I could stay right here for the rest of my life

I’m almost afraid to blink
Don’t wanna miss a single thing

Could this day be any better?
My heart is floatin’ like a feather
Could this sky be any bluer?
I don’t see how, no I don’t see how
Could your kiss be any sweeter,
This feelin’ run any deeper?
Just look at you lookin’ back at me
And could you be any more beautiful?

No, I ain’t dreamin’
I pinch myself just to check it out
Yeah, I’m still breathin’
Never felt so alive as I do right now

And the most amazin’ part
Girl there you are

Could this day be any better?
My heart is floatin’ like a feather
Could this sky be any bluer?
I don’t see how, no I don’t see how
Could your kiss be any sweeter,
This feelin’ run any deeper?
Just look at you lookin’ back at me
And could you be any more beautiful?

I don’t think it’s possible

(break)

Could your kiss be any sweeter,
This feelin’ run any deeper?
Just look at you lookin’ back at me
And could you be any more beautiful?

Could this day be any better?
My heart is floatin’ like a feather
Could this sky be any bluer?
I don’t see how, no I don’t see how

Could your kiss be any sweeter,
This feelin’ run any deeper?
Could this sky be any bluer?
I don’t see how, no I don’t see how

Could your kiss be any sweeter,
This feelin’ run any deeper?
Could this sky be any bluer?
I don’t see how, no I don’t see how

Priceless

It was 3-0-7 down the left field line
And I’d hit it to the fence a couple times
There I stood with two men out
Bryan Baker on the mound starin’ me down

Well he hung me a curve and I hit it so far
I swear it woulda gone outta Fenway Park
It sailed right over the concession stand
Through the windshield of Mr Winningham’s new minivan

I spent the next two months cuttin’ grass
Tryin’ to pay for that busted glass
Grand total includin’ tax
Was ninety-seven dollars and forty-five cents
But being known as the ‘Sultan of Swat’
The kid that hit the famous shot
That landed in the parking lot
Was priceless

I called her and told her to wear somethin’ nice
She asked and I said, “honey it’s a surprise”
When I picked her up I was certain she knew
What I was about to do, but she didn’t have a clue

That I’d rented the restaurant out for the night,
Requested Sinatra and candlelight
I covered her eyes ’til we got through the door
There were rose petals scattered on the floor and champagne poured

It was a princess cut with a platinum band
In a velvet box in my right hand
Spent a lot more than I planned
Ten thousand dollars and forty-five cents
But looking up at my future wife
Her mouth wide open and tears in her eyes
And knowing that I did it right
Was priceless

Now she’s tellin’ everyone she sees
She wants two or maybe three
And I just laugh ’cause I’ve done the math and
I know what that means

There’s diapers, daycare, ballerina shoes,
Bunk beds, braces, and Boy Scout dues
Cars and college and before you’re through
You spend eight million dollars and forty-five cents
But holding their hands and watching them grow
Teachin’ them every little thing you know
‘Bout love and life is so
Priceless
So Priceless
So Priceless

Fool’s Lullaby

A picture still sits on the table right by the bed
That pillow where she used to lay her head
Still smells like her shampoo

Memory plays in my head like a symphony
Reminding me of the man I meant to be
Can’t drown out her goodbye
Won’t let me rest
So I lie low and sing to myself

Tomorrow I’ll wake up with her in my arms
She’ll forgive all the things I’ve done wrong
I’ll turn back the tears that she cried
With each passing day
It gets harder to sleep without her by my side
So every night I add one more line
To this fool’s lullaby

She probably got busy just forgot to return my calls
Those letters I mailed got lost after all
Surely I’d have heard back by now

Last night I drove by her house saw two silhouettes
Must’ve been just a friend helpin’ her forget
Just like this bottle of gin
The words ease the pain
So I lie low and sing this refrain

Tomorrow I’ll wake up with her in my arms
She’ll forgive all the things I’ve done wrong
And we’ll live like our love never died
With each passing day
It gets harder to sleep without her by my side
So every night I add one more line
To this fool’s lullaby

Tomorrow I’ll wake up with her in my arms
She’ll forgive all the things I’ve done wrong
And I’ll lie for the very last time
But with each passing day
It gets harder to sleep without her by my side
So every night I add one more lie
To this fool’s lullaby

Crimson Sky (I Have Arrived)

Crimson sky meets the land
Great spirit hand pulls down the dyin’ sun
Secrets blow through the trees
On the breeze I hear the ancient drums

I can lay down my load
Down by old Pennwood Road
And I feel the sweet calm deep inside
And my heart sings once more
By the clear Muskoka shore
And the song tells me I have arrived

I have walked cold, grey streets
Where eyes don’t meet and no one knows my face
Stone and steel hide the sky
Voices cry then fade without a trace

Like a wanderin’ child
I’m called back to the wild
Of the North Country where I belong
And my heart sings once more
By the clear Muskoka shore
And the song rings out sacred and strong

I can lay down my load
Down by old Pennwood Road
And I feel the sweet calm deep inside
And my heart sings once more
By the clear Muskoka shore
And the song tells me I have arrived

Crimson sky meets the land
Great spirit hand pulls down the dyin’ sun
Secrets blow through the trees
On the breeze I hear the ancient drums

Everything To You

Do you read the mornin’ paper?
What’s your favourite tv show?
Do you like your coffee strong?
And where do you go to be alone?

Do you like the sound of thunder?
Would you dance out in the rain?
Which one would you rather go to
The ballet or a baseball game?

We’re just startin’ out girl
Here we go
Let’s get a little closer

I wanna know every little thing about you
I wanna read the story of your life
Tell me where you see yourself tomorrow
And what you dreamed about last night
Tell me what fills your heart with sadness
The kind of stuff that makes you laugh out loud
I wanna hear the tiniest of details
So don’t leave a single one out
I wanna hear everything so I’ll know what to do
To be everything to you

Do you need a four star restaurant
Or would a drive-thru suit you fine?
Have you got your whole life planned
Or do you take things one day at a time?

We hardly know each other
You and me
But baby I’m all ears

I wanna know every little thing about you
I wanna read the story of your life
Tell me where you see yourself tomorrow
And what you dreamed about last night
Tell me what fills your heart with sadness
The kind of stuff that makes you laugh out loud
I wanna hear the tiniest of details
So don’t leave a single one out
I wanna hear everything so I’ll know what to do
To be everything to you

On The Fence

He thought everything was perfect
Never seen or heard ‘em fight
So it felt like his little world
Turned inside out overnight
He was eating Cap’n Crunch
When mom said daddy’s movin’ out
He’s got a choice to make
But he don’t know how

He’s on the fence and he doesn’t know
How to leave his momma or watch his daddy go
He’s only six years old and it’s all up to him
If they really care then why’d they put him there
On the fence

At a high school football game
Another kid, another town
Right there underneath the bleachers
There’s a bad deal goin’ down
Someone’s got a bottle
Somethin’ in a plastic bag
He wants to walk away
But he knows they’ll laugh

He’s on the fence not sure which way to go
He’s trying to be cool, but his conscience tells him no
He just turned fifteen and it’s all up to him
He’s quite aware his future’s hangin’ there
On the fence

She held her baby in her arms
He was just three minutes old
Said she’d give him up
But right now she can’t let him go
She’s not quite seventeen
All alone and scared to death
The choice she makes tonight
She’ll have a lifetime to regret

She’s on the fence
On the fence

What If I Am

Scared to death, I hold my breath
What am I doin’?
I count to three, it’s up to me
But who am I foolin’?

Something’s gotta be said, why can’t I say it?
This silly game, why do I play it?
There’s a battle in my mind

What if I stumble on the first step?
Then again maybe I will fly
I could be wrong about this whole thing
Or maybe I’ve never been more right
What if I’m wasting precious moments?
Or is it all part of a bigger plan?
What if I’m not ready to lay it down
And leave it all to chance?
But what if I am?

I fell too fast in the past
Now I’m movin’ with caution
But isn’t this worth the risk?
‘Cause you’re pretty awesome

What’s the matter with me?   I must be crazy
‘Cause I’m pretty sure it’s a definite maybe
That you feel the same way too

What if I stumble on the first step?
Then again maybe I will fly
I could be wrong about this whole thing
Or maybe I’ve never been more right
What if I’m wasting precious moments?
Or is it all part of a bigger plan?
What if I’m not ready to lay it down
And leave it all to chance?
But what if I am?

Maybe someday I’ll look back on this and laugh
At all the doubts and every question that I asked

What if I stumble on the first step?
Then again maybe I will fly
I could be wrong about this whole thing
Or maybe I’ve never been more right
What if I’m wasting precious moments?
Or is it all part of a bigger plan?
What if I’m not ready to lay it down
And leave it all to chance?

What if I stumble on the first step?
Then again maybe I will fly
I could be wrong about this whole thing
Or maybe I’ve never been more right
What if I’m wasting precious moments?
Or is it all part of a bigger plan?
What if I’m not ready to lay it down
And leave it all to chance?
But what if I am?

What if I Am?

Me And You

Some people blend in with their environment
Some feel safe in with the crowd
But I’ve always been a little different
On the road less traveled down

I believe that good things come
To those who seek to find

When I met you I right away knew
I can’t afford to let you go
So two loners join together
To forge a fut ure all their own

And all that I was searching for
I finally found in you

Somewhere between the blue sky and the red clay
We’ve got our own place in this world
Where only good things can fit inside it
Like our own private universe
Where the roots run deep
And the love grows true
And all else pales in comparison to
Me and you
Me and you

So if you’re feelin’ like you don’t fit in
Just be proud then because you’re right
We don’t have to do what they do
To be happy with our lives

If all we want is all we have
Then all we need is here

Somewhere between the blue sky and the red clay
We’ve got our own place in this world
Where only good things can fit inside it
Like our own private universe
Where the roots run deep
And the love grows true
And all else pales in comparison to
Me and you

Somewhere between the blue sky and the red clay
We’ve got our own place in this world
Where only good things can fit inside it
Like our own private universe
Where the roots run deep
And the love grows true
And all else pales in comparison to
Me and you
Me and you

You Got Me Falln’

Like a leaf lettin’ go of a branch
You got me fallin’
Earthbound spinning ‘round in the dance
You got me fallin’

I try, I try to resist
I hear you callin’
But there’s no escapin’ this
You got me fallin’
You got me fallin’

I was fine on my own
I was standing alone and tall
Now I find myself crumbling
Here I go tumbling
Down, down, down like Jericho’s wall
You got me fallin’
You got me fallin’

Like a stone thrown by a child
Skips on the water
I was fast, I was free, I was wild
I never once touched bottom

Then I saw those eyes so green
I heard you callin’
One kiss and oh mercy me
You got me fallin’
You got me fallin’

I was fine on my own
I was standing alone and tall
Now I find myself crumbling
Here I go tumbling
Down, down, down like Jericho’s wall
You got me fallin’
You got me fallin

Like a leaf lettin’ go of a branch
You got me fallin’
Earthbound spinning ‘round in the dance
You got me fallin’

Showdown

It’s high noon baby, it looks like I’m in trouble again
You’re starin’ me down, but I don’t know the kinda mess that I’m in
What did I do? I’m rackin’ my brain
Before I know it’s ten paces too late

It’s a showdown, it’s a Wild West movie
It’s a showdown, on a black and white TV
Put your gun down, Oh we should know better
All those Wild West movies they were ‘happy-enders’
It’s a showdown

I feel like Wild Bill and you’re Calamity Jane
But I’m shakin’ in my boots, and you’ve got a deadly aim
You know I’m gun shy, I don’t ask for much
Don’t drag me feet first through the Main street dust

It’s a showdown, it’s a Wild West movie
It’s a showdown, on a black and white TV
Put your gun down, Oh we should know better
All those Wild West movies they were ‘happy-enders’

It’s a showdown, Oh it’s high noon baby
It’s a showdown, with no sidekick to save me
Every showdown since I can remember
All those Wild West movies they were ‘happy-enders’
It’s a showdown

When the showdown is over and I’m holdin’ you close
With your head on my shoulder I’ll be ten feet tall and bullet proof

I will give you my love, everything I got
If you surrender to me without a single shot

It’s a showdown, it’s a Wild West movie
It’s a showdown, on a black and white TV
Put your gun down, Oh we should know better
All those Wild West movies they were ‘happy-enders’

It’s a showdown, Oh it’s high noon baby
It’s a showdown, with no sidekick to save me
Every showdown since I can remember
All those Wild West movies they were ‘happy-enders’
It’s a showdown
